(Ohs) She Rep: Resuscitation Of The WWTW In Ficksburg/Meqheleng
Setsoto Local Municipality is implementing a project for the RESUSCITATION OF THE WWTW IN FICKSBURG/MEQHELENG. The contractor, HT Pelatona Projects is currently looking for a suitable (OHS) SHE rep with the requirements as stipulated below:
POST : SHE Rep
SALARY : R6 000 per month (All Inclusive) for the duration of the construction contract
UNIT : Ficksburg/Meqheleng
JOB PURPOSE : The primary purpose of the job is to act as an employee liaison to identify hazards, investigate incidents, address complaints, conduct inspections, and promote safety awareness, ensuring workplace health and safety compliance by representing workers’ concerns to management.
REQUIREMENTS :
• Valid South African Identity Document (ID)
• Grade 12 certificate with basic computer literacy.
• SHE Representative certification
• Minimum level 2 first aid competency
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment certification
• Must be able to communicate, read and write in English and Sesotho.
• Must be reliable and accountable & currently unemployed.
• Preferably be a resident of Ficksburg/Meqheleng
• Should be prepared to work under difficult conditions and have skills in conflict resolution.
• Should have experience in construction health and safety, and be able to communicate with contractors and sub-contractors.
• Should not be a contractor.
• Willingness to spend extended periods in the field and work irregular hours.
DUTIES :
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Regularly inspect the workplace to find potential hazards and contribute to risk assessments.
• Incident Investigation: Examine incidents, near-misses, and accidents, working with management on preventive measures.
• Employee Representation: Act as a voice for workers, raising safety concerns and making representations to employers.
• Inspections & Audits: Participate in internal audits, visit incident sites, and accompany inspectors.
• Information & Communication: Receive information from inspectors and share it with employees and management.
• Safety Promotion: Educate colleagues on safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Committee Participation: Attend Health and Safety Committee meetings.
