REQUIREMENTS

B-Degree / National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning / or Architecture. Candidate be registered as a Professional Planner with SACPLAN. Candidate must possess a valid South African Driver’s preferably Code “B”. Candidate must have at least 2-5 years relevant experience. Candidate must be computer literate (Microsoft Office). No Criminal Record of any kind.

COMPETENCIES

Candidate must have the ability to monitor the results of delegations, assignments, or projects, considering the skills, knowledge, and experience of the assigned individual and the characteristics of the assignment or project (Monitoring & Control). The ability to achieve the desired objectives and agreements through interactive discussion with either internal or external parties. Effectively exploring alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties (Negotiation). The ability to plan and organize the work unit using goal setting, objective, targets, creating work schedules and work plans with associated resources and budgets (Planning & Organizing). Spatial Planning competencies relate to an individual’s ability to utilize scientific disciplines, administrative techniques and interdisciplinary coordination to facilitate balanced regional development (Spatial Planning). Be responsible for Land Use Management and Information Management.

DUTIES

Candidate must understand the planning context and be able to apply this understanding in the evaluation of building and development applications. Candidates must have thorough understanding of planning policies and guidelines and be able to apply or use discretion / sound judgement in planning applications that fall outside the scope of policies and guidelines. Candidate must be able to make practical recommendations to the appropriate approval structures. Candidates must be able to assist in the development of Land Use Management policies and operational requirements, display sound research ability; and be able to analyze and synthesize knowledge to support planning initiatives.
